Welcome

A genealogical conference focusing on the Azores has been planned to include lectures, computer lab time, one-on-one guided research, as well as allowing time for general research in the Family History Library (FHL). Lecture topics include computer databases as well as basic techniques for beginners. The FHL has church and civil records from Portugal and the U.S.

Other genealogical records include ship passenger lists, census records, World War I & II draft registrations, birth, marriage, and death records for some cities. If you can, plan additional days before or after the conference for more research time. Do not miss this opportunity to research at the world’s greatest genealogical research library.

The 2016 Azores Genealogical Conference & Research Trip which is being hosted in Salt Lake City at the Salt Lake Plaza Hotel and the Family History Library of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormons). This world-renowned genealogy library is open to the public and access to the fabulous resources in its collection of books, maps, and microfilm from all over the world is free of any charge. We have planned this event to allow for research time in the library and still be able to hear and learn from Azorean genealogical researchers and speakers. The conference includes lecture sessions, computer lab time, conference packet (on CD), and personal assistance. Attend as many or as few lectures as applicable to you!

Facillitators

Spanning over sixty years of combined knowledge researching Azorean Genealogy, the facillitators at this year’s conference will speak on over fourteen topics that will enable attendees to decipher historical Portuguese records as well as provide them with an introduction to tools that will will make researching their Azorean ancestry easier. Attendees will soon be able to distinguish islands, municipalities and parishes needed to begin researching the Azores. Next, attendees will learn about the different ages of historical records and what to expect from documents of those periods.
